Kaido (カイドウ, Kaidō) is one of the Yonkou, and the third to be mentioned by name. Kaido's name is revealed just after the defeat of his former rival Gekko Moriah.

Personality

Without any formal introduction to defer towards, not much can be known about Kaido's personality as of late, but he appears to be a ruthless warrior, slaying Gekko Moriah's entire crew ten years ago and planning to attack Whitebeard during the latter's attempt to save Portgas D. Ace from execution.



Abilities and Powers

As one of the Yonkou, Kaido is one of the strongest pirates in the world. He attempted to take Whitebeard's life, which is something that few would dare, and managed to clash with Shanks. He also once fought against Gekko Moriah of the Shichibukai, and emerged victorious.
Similar to Edward Newgate, Kaido also seems to have many underlings and allied pirates, even up to proclaiming islands as his own territories.



History

At one point in his life, he fought with Gekko Moriah and defeated him in the New World. Though the details of the fight have yet to be fully explained, it is implied that he is responsible for the deaths of Moriah's original crew.
When Whitebeard attempted to save Ace from his execution at Marineford, Kaido tried attacking him. However, Red Hair Shanks intercepted Kaido before he could reach Whitebeard, and Kaido either retreated or was defeated, as Shanks managed to arrive at Marineford at the end of the war.

After the battle, X. Drake arrived at an unknown winter island that happens to be a favorite of Kaido's. When he asks a cyborg henchman guarding the island if attacking him would get Kaido's attention, he is told yes. On hearing this, the Supernova uses his Devil Fruit to transform into a dinosaur and begins to attack. Whether his purpose of doing so was to take over the island, or (as is strongly implied) attracting the attention of the Yonkou is not yet clear.
